We are the Regional Prime Contractor for the Central MoD region.

Prime Contracting is vital to the MoDs vision for an estate: ‘of the right size and quality, which is managed and developed effectively in line with acknowledged best practice, and is sensitive to social and environmental considerations.’ We are committed to helping Defence Estates realise that vision through collaboration and innovation.

The practical challenge we faced was to cascade Prime Contracting principles, such as accountability, visibility and continual improvement, down to the level of individual tasks. In this, we recognised the importance of retaining the wealth of know-how that exists across the estate.

This included:

• An innovative business model, in which many services are provided by independent local companies known as Direct Service Providers (DSPs). This franchise model incentivises individual performance and encourages both continuity of people and consistency of standards.

• A proven system – WorkManager* – which offers 360° visibility of all activities and costs, integrated directly with Defence Estates’ systems, to help drive and develop best practice.

• Exceptional sustainability. Our sustainable approach to construction and facilities management is achieving long-term value for money and strong environmental responsibility.

Now having completed nearly three years of the contract, we have reached levels of model maturity, collaborations and performance. Regional Prime Contract Central is delivering very well – a sentiment that is echoed throughout the contract.
