Health & Safety in CarillionEnterprise is geared towards the protection of everyone involved in and affected by our works. Our systematic approach to Health & Safety helps to control risks, reduce costs and fewer days lost to injury.
Key achievements in 2007:
- Accident Frequency Rate (AFR) reduced by 60%, this reduction exceeded the accident reduction target for the year, (AFR = number of accidents / the number of hours worked x 100,000).
- Full accreditation to the OHSAS (Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems) 18001 standard.
- 28.6% point improvement under our Health & Safety assessment model, ACCE (Awareness, Competence, Compliance and Excellence).
- Establishment of Safety Action Groups (SAGs) across all of our cluster sites, engaging with supply chain operatives and CarillionEnterprise staff for continuous Health & Safety improvement.
- Successful implementation of a ‘Don’t Walk By’ campaign, encouraging all stakeholders to take action if they see any unsafe act or unsafe environment, including the provision of a freephone 0800 number for issues to be reported.
Key achievements in 2008:
- 70% of all CarillionEnterprise operational sites – Core Services and Core Works – have achieved Target Zero over the last 12 months.
- 36% reduction in all accidents
