CarillionEnterprise (C-E) has won the Sustainability Specialist award from Midlands Excellence

L-R: Mark Archbold, Seaton Price, Morris Hoban, E:ON (award sponsor) and Arti Halai (host)

On Thursday 21 January Midlands Excellence held their annual awards ceremony. The prestigious event was held at Birmingham's International Convention Centre (ICC). Attending the event were Tom Robinson, Managing Director of C-E, Mark Grant, Deputy Head of Operations North (EM Central) and other representatives from C-E.

C-E was short listed along with other companies such Siemens, DLA Piper and Birse, for the Midlands Excellence Specialist Category Award for Sustainability. To win the award in October 2009 a 10 slide presentation was submitted to a panel of independent assessors from Midlands Excellence. The presentation highlighted all the successful and collaborative work carried out the Regional Prime Central - Central for Defence Estates. In November, Seaton Price, Business Improvement Manager and Sarah Hollingworth were asked to present the submission to four judges and say why C-E should be recognised and win the award.

To win the award on their first submission and beat off strong competition from organisations like Birse (part of Balfour Beatty) and Siemens is a fantastic achievement.

Also on the night C-E was recognised as one of nine finalists for Midland Excellences' overall Excellence award. This award recognises organisations who strive for Excellence using the European Foundation Quality Model (EFQM). To enter the organisation needs to register with Midlands Excellence and have achieved the Investors in Excellence (IiE) Standard - which
C-E achieved in 2009. Being one of the finalists, is a great achievement for any organisation so young and on their first submission.

Seaton Price, Business Excellence Manager, C-E: "We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised for our Sustainability work on Regional Prime Contract Central by winning the Midlands Excellence annual award for Sustainability. We are further delighted to have achieved this in our first year of application - beating off some stiff competition in the likes of Birse and Siemens along the way. This award would not have been possible without the enthusiasm of our people as well as the support and collaboration of our customers."

This is a fantastic start to 2010 which brings together and recognises the hard work carried out by all C-E employees and the collaborative work that has taken place over the last 12 months.
